Mid-February

Here are a few things the little kiddos have been up to so far this month.

Aaron likes to pretend he is a dog and that under the kitchen table is his dog house. Well, one night he wanted to sleep in his dog house. I didn't think he would actually fall asleep, but he did. We let him stay there about 15-20 minutes and then moved him to his bed.

Ali loves to clean. Whenever I get out anything to clean- the broom, a washcloth - she wants to be in on the action. One day she and Aaron wrote on the wall under the dog house, so we had to move the table and she helped wash it off.

It took several pictures before we could get a picture of the plane in flight like Nathan wanted. This is the best we could get.

...and Nathan's lovely picture he took of himself. He loves to take pictures with the camera!

So, we have a recent spell of beautiful weather- high 40s, 50s, and I think it even hit 60 once! I know it won't last and there is still plenty of winter to be had, but it's been nice for the kids to get outside and not feel so cooped up. So, today we went out after lunch and before preschool. Ali's first thing was to sit down on the step. She loves to sit on things. She was so happy, kicking her feet, bopping up and down. I love the picture of Aaron and Ali looking at each other. They are just being so happy together. I wish it were always like that.... Nathan ventured out on the snow piled up. He loves to wear shorts and would wear them year-round if he could. Today was just nice enough for me to say okay.

I brought up the kids' art easel last night before family home evening. They had a great time drawing pictures on it. Aaron wrote some letters: Q, Y, and U. Nathan was busy drawing and preparing his family home evening lesson. Ali wanted to erase everybody's writing and also play with the lids in the eraser box.

Last night for family home evening, Nathan gave the lesson. This is his first time giving the lesson. He chose the subject: Being Nice; prepared the visual aid at the beginning (heart drawn on the white board with the lesson title: this is about be nice); and even thought of the questions to ask: "What does it mean to be nice? How can we be nice in our family?" Then we took turns and played Pictionary by drawing ways we could be nice and guessing what everybody was drawing. I think Aaron said he was drawing himself and Nathan sharing toys. He had to give us a few hints. Ali just wanted to erase everything.

January 2011

We had a pretty low-key January. We were a little sick and it was a lot cold, so we stayed inside. The kids were still pretty creative with their fun, though. Nathan figured out a way to connect the letters from the bathtub and they spent many fun hours putting them together in various ways to form different boats. They had names like, "The Dragon War" and " The Speed Dragon" based on what they looked like, what they would be used for and how fast they could go. Even Ali tried to make some.

Going to the library and picking out new books is always fun. The boys love to the Berenstain Bears books these days and we always come home with about 5.

Ali has found a new place to sit. She likes to find little things to sit on. The boys also like to hid in here when we play hide and seek.
