Aaron Rolling Over

Aaron is starting to get stronger. He likes to sit up more than relax against you when you are holding him. I think he'll be sitting before long. He just started rolling over from front to back. Last week he did it one time, but hasn't been able to figure it out since. Yesterday, I put him on his tummy and he rolled right over. So I put him back on his tummy and he did it again. Then I got out the camera and caught him rolling over a couple of times. He has gone to the left and the right, so I think he's figuring it out. How fast time goes!

It has been a fun week around here - nothing too exciting happening, but the little boys are always doing cute things. I just love Aaron's smile and Nathan's enthusiasm for life. They can be a handful, but I wouldn't trade them for anything! Ryan found out how big a handful they are when he had to carry both of them downstairs.




Nathan likes to crawl in the laundry basket when I'm doing laundry, so I put Aaron in with him and got a cute shot of them.



Grandma and Grandpa Hillstead stopped by for a visit on Saturday. Aaron fell asleep, so content in Grandma's arms.



Meanwhile, Nathan gave Grandpa a workout wanting to play "Ring Around the Rosies," be tossed in the air and spun around, and wrestling. Here they are just taking a break.



Nathan has a couple of little chairs and a table in his room. He has started carrying the chairs around to stand on so he can reach things that were once unreachable. He especially likes light switches and the stereo. He likes to push buttons (mine included). He thinks it's great to eject the CD's from the CD player. Luckily he hasn't ruined any yet, but it's hard to listen to nice church music on Sunday since he keeps pushing buttons to eject the CD we are listening to :)!

Aaron is Growing!

I just read Alan & Carmen's blog about how Peyton is growing and I realized I haven't updated Aaron's information for awhile. We took him to his 4 month check-up last week and he has definitely grown. He weighed 15 pounds 11 ounces and was 25.25 inches long. That put him around the 75th percentile for height and weight. Amazing! His head circumference was over 100% - what can I say? Our boys have big heads. Let's just hope it's for lots of brains like the doctor says.

Aaron also rolled over from his front to his back for the first time on Sunday. I have been trying to give him more tummy time and keep Nathan off of him. He can hold his head up well and right now is on the floor trying to roll from his back to his stomach. He gets up on his side, but his arm gets in the way. He loves to grab things and chews on everything in sight. Time is going by so fast.

He gets so excited when he hears the music which makes him kick his legs even more. It's fun to see him learn how to make things happen.

Sense of Humor Needed

This has been one of those mornings that I wonder what I signed up for being a mother. I look at Nathan and Aaron and can't believe how much I love them and how cute they are, but then....

Nathan has learned how to climb into Aaron's crib. Not such a big deal most of the time because I'm there and I make sure he gets out okay. But this morning I had just put Aaron down for a nap and I needed to take a shower. Nathan wanted to climb into Aaron's crib, so I brought him into our room and locked the door so he couldn't get out. He was doing okay just playing with a toy so I got in the shower. He can open doors now, so he came into the bathroom and flushed the toilet while I was in the shower - that's a first for him. Luckily I didn't get a bunch of cold water, but it definitely changes the water pressure. He did that a few times before he found the toilet brush and proceeded to "clean the toilet." We had already had a tough morning - Nathan just couldn't leave Aaron alone among other things. Luckily I decided to grab my camera and take a picture instead of have an emotional break down :). He got quite a bit of water on the floor, but I needed to clean the bathroom anyhow, so I guess it all worked out.



Then there's cute Aaron. He is learning to hold his head up and is such a smiler. I love it. He had a hard time going down for a nap today, however and by this time of the day I'm pretty much done - and it's only 10:45 am. Oh well. I do have a sense of humor and it is funny - just unbelievable.

Monkey See, Monkey Do

Nathan is our cute little monkey. He is such an imitator and always wants to be doing what we are doing. Last night for Family Home Evening we opened with a song and Nathan had to help Dad play. It was cute seeing them sit there side by side. We sang "I Am a Child of God" and Nathan was singing most of the words with us. He loves to sing.




I have been exercising in the morning doing a walking video. Sometimes Nathan is awake while I exercise and tries to do the walking and knee lifts with me. I haven't been able to get a picture of that, but here are some pictures of him doing the stretches with me at the end.

The Little Guys

We have been somewhat cooped up in the house because of the weather and sickness. Nathan and Aaron aren't quite old enough to play together, but that time is getting closer. Aaron is a patient little guy and lets Nathan play with him. We have to watch pretty carefully because Nathan has been known to stand on Aaron, which isn't good. Aaron doesn't cry though and his biggest smiles and his best laughs are still for Nathan.

Aaron has been drooling up a storm - no teeth yet, but the way he drools I would think he'd have a few soon.

Snow, Snow, Snow!!!

This has been a very snowy winter for us. It looks pretty, but Ryan is sure sick of shoveling the driveway. About 2 weeks ago we got almost 21 inches of snow. It's been cold since then, so none of it has melted. We have a mountain of snow plowed in front of our house where to front-end loader "diggers" put it. We have had a few small storms since and then just yesterday we got another 6-7 inches. Nathan likes to go and sit in the snow and watch Ryan shovel, but there was too much snow, so we just set him on the sidewalk that needed to be shoveled. There was plenty of snow there to play with. It's all so white, so it's hard to tell how much is on the ground, but there is a lot!

January Update

Here's an update on our past couple of weeks. We have all been sick in one way or another. Aaron and Nathan both had RSV - Aaron had it first and then Nathan. They were both miserable for a couple of days, but they are pretty much all better now. Ryan stayed home from work a couple of days to help out which I greatly appreciate. I couldn't have done it alone. They both wanted to be held most of the time it seemed. They are such good little guys and it was hard to see them sick. I'm grateful they are feeling so much better. Things are a lot happier around here now.



Aaron has started to eat rice cereal and a little butternut squash. He's still figuring out how to eat out of a spoon, but he seems to like it. He wants to grab the spoon and feed himself. Nathan likes to watch him and encourage him as he eats. "Eat rice cereal - yes."




Nathan still likes to help out around the house and has his "ittle broom" to sweep while I use the "BIG" broom. Aaron loves his swing and is just as pleasant as he can be.

Little Hoopster

Nathan is always trying new ways to shoot baskets. He has us change the height of the basket for him and he moves it all over the room to different spots. Here are two of his latest ways.

Nathan and Aaron sure do love each other. Even though Nathan can be a bit rough, Aaron just smiles at Nathan when he talks to him. Nathan tries to helpful, too. He wants to share his toys with Aaron, and tries to help him hold onto them. The video is of Nathan helping Aaron hold on to a little figure of Minnie Mouse. He also hands Aaron his little stuffed horse that he got for Christmas.

It's hard to get these two looking and smiling at the same time. Nathan loves to look at Aaron and likes to see him smile. So when Aaron is smiling, Nathan is looking at Aaron.

Lately Aaron has been blowing bubbles a lot and sticking out his tongue. It's cute to see. He has such a cute little tongue. It reminds me of when Nathan did the same thing. Aaron is drooling a lot and may be teething. We'll see. He gets very upset sometimes and I think something is hurting him. He's got such a cute little grin. It will be fun to see with teeth.

Christmas Day 2007

Nathan woke up at about 8:00 on Christmas morning and saw all of the presents and the stockings full, but was more interested in eating breakfast - "Mama's Cereal" (Lucky Charms) to be exact. So after breakfast, we started opening presents and emptying the stockings and he got into it. He was very cute while opening presents. Aaron was a little sick, so we had to get through some of it fast, but we all enjoyed the nice Christmas morning.
