Aaron Walking

After church yesterday, Nathan, Aaron and I were playing in Nathan's room and we decided to help Aaron practice walking. Up until then he would only take a couple of steps (a couple of times he took 5 or 6). I helped him get his balance and he walked clear across the room to Nathan's bed the first time. So we tried it again and he walked all the way from the door to the bed again. I ran downstairs and got my camera, knowing that when I tried to get a video of it he probably wouldn't do it. But, he did. The camera work isn't great, but this is the best of the bunch that I did get.

He looks so cute walking. He's still pretty cautious and if he needs to get somewhere fast, crawling is his preferred method, but he's doing it. Nathan was very excited for him, too.

Aaron's Birthday

I should have posted this 2 weeks ago, but time has gotten away from me. Aaron turned 1 on September 4. We had a low-key day that day, but on Saturday we had a family party. Aaron enjoyed all of the attention and was very cute as we sang to him and helped him open presents. He had lots of help with the presents part. Nathan is thrilled with all of Aaron's new toys, but they are good brothers and share quite well for the most part. He wanted to grab the candle while it was burning, but wasn't too interested in the cupcake. He loved the ice cream, though, which is no surprise.

Aaron is learning how to walk and has taken a few steps - the most at one time was 5, but he's pretty cautious and would rather crawl and get something fast.

These are just some fun pictures from the last couple of weeks. Aaron loves to climb up on Nathan's bed and bounce or just play around. He and Nathan like to play catch, too.





Nathan got some new shoes and he can run "really fast" in them. He was racing back and forth across he living room for me.

Nathan

Nathan is still our little sports nut. He has been really into baseball this summer because we have been outside so much, but he still loves to shoot baskets and has started to learn how to dribble. We don't have very good balls for dribbling, but he kind of bounces around himself and pretends to play "like they do on TV."

The first BYU football game was on Saturday, so Dad and Nathan wore their game day BYU shirts. Nathan wasn't quite into the game like his dad was, but he watched for a little while.

We take lots of walks, and I usually take the double stroller, but one night we went out with all of us and Nathan wanted to walk by himself, so we only took the single stroller. Well, it turns out he really wanted to ride, so Ryan put him in the basket part. It worked pretty well as long as we didn't go over any big rocks or bumps.

We read lots of books - library books and some of our own. One of the ones that we read occasionally is "The Story of Mount Rushmore" where we went on our family vacation. On several of the pages is a pictures of Mount Rushmore. Nathan stops us on each page and tells us who is on the mountain and if they are "outside" or "hiding." Theodore Roosevelt is the only who is "hiding" because he sits back a bit from the rest of him. Here's a cute video of him telling who the four great presidents are.

Almost ONE!

Aaron's birthday is in three days! I can hardly believe he is almost one year old. He has changed quite a bit, but is still such a joy. We love his smiles. He is learning how to feed himself - he's a good eater - and loves to get into cupboards and drawers. One of his favorite places to be is under the bathroom sink in Mom & Dad's room. He crawls right in and finds something to play with. His tooth that has been bothering him finally came through this past week. He loved sucking on little mini popsicles. I think the cold felt good. Even after the tooth came, he still likes them, though, so it could just be that it's sweet.





Other Aaron Moments and Milestones
Aaron pulls himself up on everything and LOVES going up the stairs. I haven't got a picture of him on them because I'm usually trying to stay behind him or chase him down so he doesn't fall. He goes pretty fast and loves it. He gets all excited when he hears you coming after him.

Aaron also loves balls - that's no surprise. He likes someone to hold him up to basket while he drops it in. He even tries to shoot on his knees sometimes. He still says "ooh" and "what's dat" all the time. He also says "nnn" and points to his nose or my nose. When you ask him where the ball is, he looks around until he sees it and then looks back at us and points to the ball. We say, "Go get the ball" and he does. He's also learning how to sort shapes and put them in his toys (circles are good, the others he needs help on), and put the rings on the stacking thing. All good things for a one-year old to do.

He's a busy boy, but he always has a big smile for anyone who walks into the room. He loves his mom and grandmas the most, though. He will go to them above anyone - Grandmas first and then mom.

Little Copycats

Nathan and Aaron are really getting better at playing together and usually what one wants to do, the other does also. They are learning how to share (Nathan, mostly), but it does take great patience when it's not quite "MY TURN!" Nathan often tells me that Aaron wants to share with him just as Aaron has begun to play with something. Here they are "talking" on the phone (Aaron misses his ear, but he has the right idea), playing with the fridge magnets, and building towers with blocks.





These are two happy boys. They both like to get on our bed and bounce.

We celebrated Todd's birthday. The little boys wanted to blow out the candles, so they got a chance at a second cake that Grandma made. Birthday time is always fun.
