Baseball in the Park

Last Monday it was beautiful weather and so we went to the park for Family Home Evening. We took the bat and some balls and we all had a great time. Aaron was so content to sit on the blanket and play with his toys while we watched Nathan hit, pitch, and run down the hill. We have to go outside to play baseball now because Nathan is getting to be a better hitter and our house can't withstand the hits.

Here are a couple of short clips. One is of Nathan hitting and one is of him pitching. He is such an imitator - he shakes the ball when he pitches because when Ryan is pitching to him he holds up the ball and says watch the ball and gives it a little shake.

We often have to say to Nathan, "Mark, set, go!" before he will come or listen to us when we are trying to get him to go somewhere. Ryan taught him a stance and now he always does that when he starts to run. He even says "mark, set, go" on his own. He usually has the other hand up in the air behind him when he gets ready to go. He looks pretty good doing it. Then he runs and says, "I'm fast." His short little legs carry him as fast as he can. Running down a hill helps, too.

Nathan and Aaron are getting so big and seem to be interacting better together. There are still a lot of reminders to "be soft" and "don't hurt your brother," but overall I can definitely see improvement. Aaron gets so excited whenever he sees Nathan and just starts flapping his arms and giggling. Nathan loves the attention and it is fun to see them enjoying each other so much.

Nathan was so tuckered out one day that he just fell asleep on the floor. It was about 45 minutes before Ryan got home from work and I let him stay there. I don't remember what we did that day, but I should do it more often. He finally woke up when Ryan got home.

Aaron is starting to play with more toys. Of course, everything goes in his mouth, but he has fun reaching for things and I can see in his eyes that he wants to take off. I just hope he waits a little while. I'm not sure I can chase two little guys around just yet.

This was our house on Sunday morning before church. Nathan brought out all of his blocks and dumped them out. Aaron enjoyed putting everything in his mouth. Nathan played for a little while, but as soon as I called Grandma and Grandpa he had to talk on the phone. He loves to talk on the phone and sometimes during the day he picks up one of our old cell phones that we just use as toys and starts having a conversation. He's always talking to Grandma or Grandpa on those conversations and tells about shooting baskets and what he and Aaron have done for the day. So cute and fun to watch!

My Two Boys

This week Nathan and Aaron have been playing a little together. Basically that means that they are in close proximity and Nathan isn't hurting Aaron - but it's a step. Nathan is learning to be more gentle and he loves it when Aaron responds to him. He wanted Aaron to play in the tent with him and Aaron thought it was great.


It's been a little chilly here, but it was nice enough to bundle the boys up and put them in the wagon. We walked to the park where Aaron had his first ride in the baby swing. It was fun to see them swinging there together. They were both all smiles. Aaron even went down the slide with Nathan. I was holding onto Aaron as well, but Nathan was so proud of himself for holding his little brother and taking him down the slide.

Aaron is starting to drink out of a sippy cup. He likes juice, but isn't so keen on water. He gets excited and starts moving his arms and pounding the sippy cup against the floor or whatever else is close.
