Davis County Fair

Last Thursday we went to the Davis County Fair for the first time. I had heard from a friend that it was really fun, so we decided to check it out. The boys had a great time! They love animals, tractors, basketballs, and food - all of which we experienced there.

The first thing we did was stand in a long line for the pony rides, but it was worth it. They did have a hen house and a bunny house right next to the pony rides, so Ryan and I took turns waiting in line and taking them over there to see the little animals. That, and a small bag of potato chips enabled us to survive the wait. Aaron wasn't so sure at first if he wanted to ride the pony, but once he got on and started moving, he really enjoyed it. Nathan did great. He got to ride on a big, brown pony.



We walked over to catch the last of the magic show and Nathan shot a few baskets at a booth someone had. After the magic show, Aaron and Nathan both entered the watermelon eating contest. They had 30 seconds to eat as much of a piece of watermelon as they could. Aaron was in the 1-2 year old age group and he had a hard time waiting for them to say "go." He just wanted to eat the watermelon. Nathan was in the 3 year old group and did really well. I told him to eat it as fast as he could and he attacked that watermelon. It was so cute! He was the fastest eater there. In the end, they both got ribbons for their age groups for winning the Watermelon Eating Contest - proudly displayed now on our fridge :).


Aaron kept eating his piece until there was nothing but the green rind left. He didn't want to hold his ribbon for the picture, he just wanted to finish eating his watermelon.

We ate lunch and then headed over to the petting farm. We got some food for the animals to eat and the boys got to feed goats and sheep. It was fun for them to see the animals close up and pet them and feed them.



I was a little worried that this duck was going to bite Aaron's finger, but he was fine. Both boys were very curious about all of the different animals and wanted to be close to them. Nathan even got to brush Ada, a big cow.


Both boys had a great time. They love to explore and learn new things. I think this will definitely become an annual event!

"B"

In the last few months Aaron has become very attached to one blanket - his "B" as he calls it. He wants it all the time and gets pretty dirty. Nathan isn't really attached to a blanket, but when sometimes he sees things that Aaron is doing and wants to do the same. One day they went outside, wrapped up in their blankets on the driveway, and then visited our neighbors that have a dog named Mocha. (To Aaron, everyone in the family is named Mocha.) Then they came running back, trailing their blankets behind them.

Birthday party at the Beach

After we went to the zoo, we went to Heber to Kristen and Duke's house to celebrate the August birthdays - Grandma, Duke, and Todd. The boys were excited to go to the beach and play in the sand and the water. They played with Kyle and Luke, played with trucks and pails in the sand, and tried to build a sand castle, which became just getting more water and dumping it into the sand. They were in heaven!


They had wave runners there, too. Ryan and Todd went out first, and then later Ryan took Nathan out. He really liked it. He waded in the water for a little bit, too. Aaron wanted to go in, but it was too hard to get down to the water for me, so he mostly played in the sand.

Zoo

We went to the zoo on Monday. Aaron was less than a year old when we went last time, so this time was really fun. He loves animals and was excited to see them all. Nathan knew more about the animals this time and liked seeing them all. They saw elephants, giraffes, bears, camels, and monkeys.

We first rode the train and then Nathan wanted to see the tiger first, so he pulled out the map and checked out where we needed to go. I helped him find where we were, where the tiger was, and how to get there. Both of the boys like to give us directions while walking or driving - "this way" - so he was right in his element. It was cute to watch him look for the different places we wanted to go.

Bowling

We went bowling as a family and both the boys had a great time. The balls were too heavy for them to just roll and get enough speed, but they had this little ramp they could push it down. Aaron beat us all with a score of 108! I thought the bowling shoes looked so cute on their little feet.

Fun Pictures

We have had some fun times over the last month and a half. I'm going to have to just put mostly pictures. Hopefully they can tell the story.

Aaron loves the sprinkler, but mostly trying to drink out of it. He always gets wet, but thinks it's great.



Nathan is now in a "big" bed. We moved the twin bed up. We are planning on putting Aaron into the same room in the toddler bed before the baby comes. We'll see how that works out...

Aaron loves toast and jam and asks for it all of the time. He usually eats the toast from the center out and gets plenty messy.
