First here are two cute pictures of the boys. The first one is when Nathan was sure he didn't want to take a nap, and I found him asleep on the chair. The next one is the two boys blowing bubbles, one of their favorite things to do.
Nathan and Aaron both had swimming lessons. Nathan loved it and asked me first thing every morning that week if we could go to swimming lessons. Our lessons were at 12:00, so it made for a long morning for Nathan. Once we got there he would go straight to his teacher and get in the water. He loved getting the rings and then throwing them and floating on his back. He could even jump off of the side and go all the way under water. He learned a lot in one week and then had follow-up lessons the next week. He loves the water and got to try out his skills when we went to Park City later in the month.
Aaron, however, took a little time to get used to the whole idea of being in the water without mom or dad. He loves the bathtub, but he cried the first three days at swimming lessons. He learned to float and by the fourth day he didn't cry anymore. He looked so cute in his little swimsuit floating around the pool. Too bad he looked so unhappy half of the week.
On June 7, we had a family birthday party for Luke and me. The boys had a great time together and the blower/noisemaker things were a big hit! Aaron walked around blowing his for a long time. They also loved the pinata and all the surprises and candy inside. Of course, at the first mention of cake and ice cream, both boys came running and sat down at their table to enjoy!
We tried to teach Aaron how to sing Happy Birthday, but he would just walk around and say "Happy." He's starting to repeat more words now and it's so cute to see his language skills develop. He knows a lot of his colors now, but my favorite one to hear and see him say is "orange." He makes a cute face when he says it and pronounces it emphatically.On June 19-20 we went up to Park City and Heber City. The boys got to practice their swimming skills in the pool at the condo and Nathan just loved it. He is growing into such a big boy. He feels like he is a big boy, too. I hope he doesn't grow up too fast. He is a kind brother and is learning how to be polite. He is a pleasant little soul. He has his moments, but they are not as frequent as they once were. Aaron is taking over for him, though :). My sweet little boy is getting independent and figuring the world out. I remember Nathan at this age, so it helps to know that he will *probably* grow out of this stage. It is fun to see the little guys play together and laugh and giggle over things that make no sense to me. I hope they will always have a special bond as brothers.
Last weekend, we went to Lagoon. Nathan was very excited to go. We haven't been since he was about 18-19 months old. He loved it then. He would ride all of the rides with a blank expression, but when they finished he wanted more. We were wondering how Aaron would do.Nathan thought every ride was fun. He liked to go high in the helicopter and go around fast and shoot his gun on the plane ride. He was so excited and happy to be there and would ask when he got off if we saw him go high or fast or whatever it was. He would have stayed all day and all night if we could. I think Nathan has his mother's blood when it comes to rides and adventure.
Aaron - well, he takes after his dad. We put him on the plane ride first- it was the first one we came to. He didn't show too much expression, but we could tell he wasn't sure what to think about it all. Well, as soon as the ride was done, he reached out and cried, "Mommy!" He didn't really like the rides. He did seem to like the Merry-Go-Round when I was right beside him and he liked driving the cars, but the other ones he wasn't so fond of. Even after the boat ride when he was with Nathan and seemed to be doing okay, he wanted out as soon as he could. Maybe next year he'll do better.
